When to Get Braces?
All children should have an orthodontic screening by age 7. This allows Dr. Don Wilson and Dr. Paul Kim to determine if early orthodontic treatment will be required, or if we can wait and complete all orthodontic treatment during adolescence.
Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment. By age 12, most of the permanent teeth have erupted, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites can easily be detected. These problems don’t correct themselves, so this is when most parents decide to seek orthodontic treatment.
